vocaldente 2008
"Audience favourites", "award winners", "vocal artists", "entertainers" or just plain old "singers"? Somehow all of these are fitting! But how best to describe vocaldente?

The press is unanimous: Their singing technique is "professional", their drive "phenomenal", they are "bursting with ideas". Apart from their "high level of singing", their "entertaining presentations" and their "imaginative lively choreography" what has been acknowledged above all is their "professionalism", which is "perfect and harmonic", "sparkly and refreshing", "charming and professional", which is to say "musical, funny, good" and all this is presented with "refreshing genuineness":PRESS PACK

They care for an art which is nearly lost: a capella without microphones, the vocal experience without technical implements, unplugged, straight and direct, pure and authentic. If an event, meeting or concert requires the use of microphones, vocaldente has the ability of the amplified performance as well.

vocaldente has managed to immediately win over jury members such as John Potter (The Hilliard Ensemble), Ward Swingle (The Swingle Singers), Anders Jalkéus (The Real Group) from all areas of vocal and a cappella music, from classical music to voice pop: During 2007 and 2008, they claimed victory at the biggest and most significant national and international vocal and a capella competitions in Asia, Europe and the United States:NEWS

The 2008 Taiwan International Contemporary A Cappella Competition in Taipei (Taiwan), the Tampereen Sävel 2007 in Tampere (Finland) as well as the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival 2008 in San Francisco (USA). By winning the latter, vocaldente are the National Champions of the biggest a cappella contest in the world - the first non-English speaking group ever to achieve this, and only the second non-American group ever.

Aside from this, the ensemble was successfully competing in the Jugend Kulturell Förderpreis of the HypoVereinsbank and vokal.total in Graz (Austria) in 2007, and was - in both events as well as some of the competitions mentioned above - victorious in the Audiences Favourite category. On top of this, at Asia's biggest and only international competition, they gained the Special Award for Best Choreography and Stage Presence.

So who are these five young men who, using their own ingenious arrangements and without microphones, present us with the charm of the 1920s, the drive of the 1960s and the sound-world of contemporary radio?

Their love for singing was roused at the Hanover Boys’ Choir and at the Hanover University of Music and Drama. They sang in choirs and ensembles, played in bands and orchestras, and featured in musicals, before eventually founding vocaldente in 2004. Then everything happened really fast: In 2005 they gave their first full-length concerts and attended master classes and workshops with The King’s Singers, The Real Group and Naturally 7.
