e-voc from 24.12.2008 - A vocaldente Christmas Tale
12-24-2008
As Christmas time approached, and peace and light settled all over the world, a little conflict was hassling vocaldente. It was ignited by the good old issue of presents, a topic so familiar to all of us right now…
In fact, the opinions of our five vocaldente boys on how best to use the numerous air miles they’d gained from their frequent flights during 2008 were greatly diverging. Some wanted to spend the bonus on presents; Tobek, for instance, fancied a seven-piece whiskey set by Schott Zwiesel; Micha was dreaming of a set of Eva Solo water carafes – Tobi’s wishes were a bit more mundane, involving a Jacob Jensen radio alarm clock. Ansgar and Johnny, however, preferred to save the airmiles for the upcoming flight expenses in 2009.
That was a very reasonable objection, as 2009 will bring a lot of touring action for vocaldente. The plan includes three returns to the US and also several weeks spent touring through a couple of Asian countries during Summer and Autumn. They will also visit the lands of the midnight sun, that is to say, Sweden and Finland.
And of course, there’ll be a whole heap of shows played in Germany: January kicks off with Oberstaufen, Minden, Isenbüttel, Winsen, Weimar, Leipzig and the city of Göttingen. In February, the boys will perform in Mosbach, Heilbronn, Harsefeld and the town of Sythen:LIVE
The trips to Asia are already warmly anticipated, in particular – that’s one thing everyone in the group could agree on: It’s much nicer for all (bar Tobek) to munch with chopsticks than a knife and fork, and the Asian hospitality is legendary within the band. The concert halls are also preferred as they feature excellent acoustics. But the thing missed most is the direct contact with the fans that’s at its most intense and unique here: handshakes and ferocious requests to be photographed with the band (“Can I take a picture with you?”).
The most requested snapshot was our blondie Micha: He was even stopped on the street for a photo on our first night in Taiwan! Don’t miss our impressions of Asia, captured and carefully turned into a videocast, online between Christmas and the New Year:VIDEOCAST
Oh, our Micha… Looking back at a year of change and success, he’s been our highlight of 2008, since he first joined us onstage in Hong Kong in July. The past year has given us a lot of delightful successes and much international recognition with the first prize won in the USA and Asia.

But we're equally delighted by the positive feedback we received from all corners of the globe, fans and friends, at concerts and shows in both the bigger and smaller towns of Germany and all over Europe...NEWS
So as we were sitting with a mug of Christmassy mulled wine last night, becoming quite contemplative, reflecting on the year and everything it brought, we decided to bury the hatchet over the airmiles quarrel. It turned out anyway that Ansgar had only blocked the idea with the bonus rewards because he hadn’t been offered a knife set, and Johnny wasn’t interested when he found out Eva Solo wasn’t single. Tobi, Tobek and Micha admitted they hadn’t been thinking enough about it all, and the airmiles were indeed best spent on new flight tickets for 2009. And this was when a star arose, shining brightly, and festive peace settled amongst our vocaldente boys… Well, okay, the thing with the star was a little fib. But the rest was absolutely true. And we can announce a glad tiding for the festivities: The first songs for the new vocaldente album are now recorded, and the release date in early March is firmly set! You want a little taster? Check our MySpace and facebook pages in the next months:MYSPACE MUSIK Portal And in mid 2009, a very special DVD will follow this: On June 20, we will record our 5 years anniversary show in the atmospheric Balver Caves, where the cult German rap group Die Fantastischen Vier performed their "MTV Unplugged" concert - something you shouldn’t miss by any means! All information relating to this unique event will soon be available on our website and in a special edition of the e-voc. |
But for now, let’s close this little retrospective – but not without a big thank you to all of you, for your support, your interest and, first and foremost, your friendship. We wish you a wonderful merry Christmas, great presents (*sigh*, the airmile rewards…) and a happy, healthy and successful New Year!
Yours,
vocaldente
